Unlike other insurance providers, there is only one reason MIIA is in business — to serve Massachusetts’ municipal governments. After all, MIIA was formed by the Massachusetts Municipal Association and its members in 1982 for the sole purpose of providing top-quality municipal insurance.

That’s why we continue to emphasize wellness, early intervention, and loss control programs that prevent and/or minimize problems, and that improve the quality of life for our members and their employees.

MIIA is an integral part of the Massachusetts Municipal Association and our mission is closely entwined with the MMA. MIIA's contribution to that mission is to bring stability, affordability, financial strength and quality of service to the Massachusetts municipal insurance marketplace. But that's just the beginning. We are a vital partner for cities and towns and we are dedicated to that service. After 25 years we are more committed than ever to provide our members with the most advanced insurance and risk management products and services available.
