Selectmen, councillors to hold Joint Conference in September
From The Beacon, June 2005, Vol. XXXI, No. 6
The MMA will host its eighth annual Joint Conference for Aldermen, Councillors and Selectmen on Sept. 23-24 at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Worcester.
The executive committees of the Massachusetts Selectmen’s Association and the Massachusetts Municipal Councillors’ Association are developing an agenda for the conference that will address both city and town interests. Revitalization, economic development and cooperative governing are some of the topics to be addressed.
The goal is to provide members of elected boards with skills and tools to help balance citizens needs and budgetary considerations. The meeting will feature discussion opportunities, training workshops, public policy dialogue, speakers, and networking sessions.
All Massachusetts aldermen, councillors and selectmen are invited. More details will be announced in future issues of The Beacon and on www.mma.org. Information will be mailed to all aldermen, councillors and selectmen this summer.
Attendees may make hotel reservations now by calling the hotel at (800) 628-4240. Attendees must call by Aug. 20 to receive the special MMA reduced rate of $94 per night (mention “MMA conference”).
