Pre-Placement Physical Examination
MIIA has long believed in the importance of assuring that prospective employees are physically capable of performing the essential functions of the job for which they are being considered. One of the best ways to determine the physical qualifications of a prospective employee is by a pre-placement physical examination. In recent years, the issue of pre-placement physical examinations has been somewhat complicated by the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act. In addition, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in MGL Chapter 151B has a body of law regarding disabilities. MIIA has outlined the procedures to be followed in setting up and administering a program of pre-placement physical examinations which is in accordance with MGL Chapter 151 B and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
