Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC)

Who should participate: police officers operating vehicles.

This full day program provides your police officers an opportunity to hone their driving skills. Using their own cruisers, officers guided by MIIA’s certified instructors, will operate their vehicles through several courses replicating conditions found in police operations.  This course will also consist of 2-3 hours of classroom instruction with focus on emergency response, vehicle maintenance, and on-scene risk management.

The courses are designed to improve a driver’s skill in backing, longitude, lateral weight transfers and ABS proper braking techniques. Stability and traction control and how it's safety mechanisms will prevent an out of control vehicle by shutting the engine power down. The quick response skill test in the afternoon encompasses the participant’s developed driving skills to drive an aggressive driving course being seat belted and arrive safely.

This course will help the officer understand that if you slowed down there is a minimal time difference between aggressive driving vs. slowing down.

Contact your MIIA Risk Manager to discuss requests for specific programming.
