Two- day overview of chainsaw operations taught by Bill Girard of Custom Cut Hardwood

Chain Saw Safety

Bill Girard teaches the Game of Logging Chainsaw Safety Curriculum, a two-day

hands-on training that focuses on introducing the participant to open face

felling and the development of techniques to safely use it. Focus continues

on maximizing chainsaw performance through basic maintenance,

carburetor setting, and filing techniques. Limbing and bucking techniques

are introduced, spring pole cutting is covered and the unique hazards

inherent in storm damage settings.

Day One

Safety, safe exit routes, how to determine lean in tree prior to felling

Day Two Felling and practice assessing storm damage and ensuring

safe procedures

Participants must have proper PPE to participate in class. Chainsaw chaps or

pants, boots, hard hat, eye and ear protection, gloves optional. Recommend

bringing a chainsaw from municipality
