Seasonal certification precludes employers from being liable for unemployment benefits directly associated with seasonal work. The Department of Unemployment Assistance (DUA) will exclude wages earned in a seasonally certified position and not charge the employer if an unemployment claim is filed Recreation program and temporary summer positions are most likely to qualify. Note - the application must be filed 60 days in advance of the season!
